Can someone please advise me as to the best way to get out a broken screw that holds the door opener in place? Here is a photo.. ![]() I tried using a Dremel to create a slot in it but it did not work. So does anyone now know what is the best way to get it out? Thanks.. |

Screw extractor, but you need the whole virtually dead center for it to work well. |

And be very careful with the screw extractor - they're strong but brittle, and if you snap one off in your screw, you're rooted. I did it ages ago, and it's a bitch to fix. |

OK thanks and I just got it out ![]() I ended up using my Dremel to drill all the way through the bolt then I used a screw extractor.. At first I thought I was going to break the screw extractor so I ended up just digging out my blow torch and heated the area up around the bolt. Once this was done the screw extractor worked a treat without much force at all.. Anyway I have it out so I am over the moon about this ![]() Now all I gotta do is find some original screws to go back in there ![]() So thanks for all your help.. |

Thanks AngusDog and yep I read about this on the internet. Real problem if you break the screw extractor. I also ended up buying a tap and die set just incase I did not use the screw extractor. But it all worked out well with my previous post and a little bit of heating in the right areas goes along way ![]() |

how did you snap that bolt?? thought the plastic door handle would have cracked before the bolt. |

Well I brought the car like it.. So I dont know how it originally broke.. But I thought to myself that the rest of the screw would never come out seeing how the head was completly broken off. Maybe an impact driver was not used or something as the rest of the screws are in a very bad way and need replacing.. |
