Hi to peaple,when i brake there is a clunking sound that can be heard on the passengers side,and can also be felt through the floor pan by the passenger,is this normal,it does not happen all the time,also wanted to say thanks for all the help and info i receive through this forum.

No a clunk isn't normal..

Could be a few things...

Check your engine mounts, try and rock the engine by hand, particularly look at the stabiliser going from the thermostat housing to the firewall as this is where the noise is originating from..

Jack the car up and check the passenger side hub for any movement or play, get someone to put their foot on the brake while you try and physically move the hub side to side...

Check for play in your bearings while your there, with the wheel on hold it at 12 and 6 o'clock and try and wiggle it...

Could be a tierod too..

or it could be your drum is no longer perfectly round (you have drums yeah?) get that checked out perhaps?

check the tie bar bushes, its possible that the bushes are rooted at the front..

but yeah, check the wheel, dont think it would be drums tho..

it will be obvious what the problem is when you jack it up, theres not much behind the wheel there lol..

i once had a crazy clunking sound that was felt at low speeds (60 or less) which is when id be braking from higher speeds.
At higher speeds it wasnt so bad.
But when slow it was bad

BUT
it didnt occur to me to check either of my rear tyres .
i was driving around for 2-3 months, without any idea what was going on.
a mate got in car with me.
and instantly he said, HMMM! bald patches on your tyres
so i checked them
Flat spots very falt spots, lots of flat spots, Too many handbrakies
But it felt like it was coming right from under me too, it was everywhere.

Check your tyres

Check all the subframe to body bolts are tight. There are 10 of 'em..
<edit> 4 on top, 4 at rear, 2 at front.

hmm ill have to get those wheele(im positive thats not how you spell it ) ramps,im not keen on getting under the mini and moveing things about with just a wheel jack
