Before anybody tells me this post should be in the sales section, read on...
I currently own a 1970 morris mini 1100 which i bought for around 9k at the end of 04. it was (and still is) in excellent condition, apart from the radiator which has now been fixed. most things in original condition the seats had been reconditioned and there is a new set of minilites gracing her feet. Now here's the dilemma! I really want to do up my mini's performance, you know, mid life crisis and all. but my wife says that because it is in such good condition i should sell it, buy a cheaper mini and do that one up instead, knowing that it's not original so it doesn't matter if i change it. SO here are the questions.. if i get around 9.5 to 10k for my original 1970 mini k will i
1)be able to buy a cheaper roundnose and get it to where my current car is and..
2)still be able to afford to get some engine mods done to increase my performance.
remembering that i have no mechanical skill so all work will have to be done by a mechanic AND im only allowed to spend the money i make from the sale of my mini k. You are all pretty switched on in these forums so your help would be appreciated! oh p.s i live in townsville, so cairns is the nearest mini mech that i know of. I live an interesting life ha ha (sigh)

so then is it better to just do up my current mini. if i get the engine worked to get better performance, but leave the rest as original as possible ? I thought about selling the wife but apparently the market is flooded at the moment........

Yours will be worth more standard, so find a buyer for that and do another car up.

Do up the K. Keep all the original bits to put it back to standard when you have had your fun, sell the hot stuff then = no loss.

I'm agreeing with most people, it'll be worth more standard.. Get something else so you don't have to feel bad about moding it,

JAM you were in a priveleged position picking up Pops at the price, it's not indicative of values for cars like yours, mine or by the sounds of it, Mini Mitch's.

Just check the prices that such cars (mostly deluxes, 850s) have been realising recently, especially in Sydney!

9 gorillas is alot for standard K, however we'll find out next Monday when Shannons auctions off this baby in Melbourne. (Maybe a melbournian could offer an opinion on the condition of the car)
Note their price range of $5K - $8K.
