Thats weird its got a 940 head and the 2 Side covers on the block like the later 1275's,r do 85o's have the side covers as well?
Maybe the block has been restamped?

What diameter pistons would a 40thou 1275 have? compared to a 850?
I will measure this during the week.

No idea on the measurment of the pistons sorry...somone else can fill you in on that one...but I would say if you have a 940 head on it it would require the deck to be pocketed, So maybe it has been restamped.
:?

Wouldn't surprise me if it's an S restamped as an 850. I've seen it all before... :)

What other things should I be looking for externaly that would differentiate a 1275 block from a small bore block?

So do all S blocks have the side covers? :?

OK.. yes they all have 2 side covers.

2 extra head studs (actually 1 stud & 1 bolt) in ends of head.
A 1275 badge at the back side of block (below water pump hose) (if still there)
No mounting studs or hole, for a mechanical fuel pump (S used electric)
1275S block is about 10mm higher than a smallbore block.

With a little cam officer

On the subject of officers I got fined $225 for blowing my horn at some-one distracted by a highway patrols erratic driving and cutting into my lane!
They are saying I blew the horn at them (police).
So they are" teaching me a lesson" (unecessary use of horn) $225 thanks.
Funny thing is the police were driving in a "manner dangerous to public" as they would put it whislt not in pursuit, just harrasing a P plater as I witnessed driving behind them for about 6km or so
(wonder if they will be suspended for 6 months and fined over $600). :x

You could take them to court, but it's hardly worth it I guess.
PITA... :x
We all need video cameras in our cars... :P
