i just rang Tony at mini sport SA.. said. can i have every nut bolt and washer for the sub frames.. 3 days later.. at my front door.
Or you can get some kits from mini spares UK.

Has anyone got a list of all (or at least, most) of the nuts, bolts and washers found in your standard mini? I thought it would be good if I could email or fax a place and have them send everything out for me at once, rather than pull everything off, measure it, scratch your head for a while because its rusty, then order the wrong thing. It would be good if they were divided into categories too, like front subframe, rear, engine, etc. Anyone got or seen anything? |

That sounds like the easy way to go 
I'm replacing all my fasteners with socket head stainless steel machine grade bolts &screws No more rusty bolts for me

That's why I want a list, so I can decide which bolts to leave standard and which to replace with socket heads. They look so much neater, apart from practicality. |

Do the stainless have the same strength? I'm always shearing in half stainless screws powerdriving them into wood, whereas plain steel go straight in. |

Regular stainless isn't as strong as say 8.8 or 10.8 steel. |

I've put over 5,000 SS srews in decks and fences over the years and had very few problems. The only problem with SS is if the threads become galled through driving to fast then they will literally seize and you have to snap them to get it apart. We don't have that problem in cars as a rule. While on this subject all earth tags and leads should have star washers under them to maintane conductivity. Small things make life easier. |

There are various grades, just like in carbon steel: "stainless" - steer clear of these chinese no grade stuff! 316 - marine grade 316 B8 - marine stud grade 316 B8M - marine grade MACHINE stud grade the ones to go for...
