While looking at eBay this morning I came across the following auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mini-Clubman-Emp ... dZViewItem

And I am confused as to why someone would list this and in the description say they are going to remove part of the floor in the Mini prior to the auction end. The seller states that the car is rust free and I am totally at a loss as to why he would remove part of the floor for when you can buy replacement floor plans.

It just doesnt make any sense to me and seems a complete waste of a good shell. Or perhaps he does not know you can buy replacement floor plans..

I think the more interesting thing is that he is storing the car upside down,
which will only stuff the roof.

Yes good point..

Perhaps he did this to make it easier to cut the floor out or something.. But either way I think it should have been stored on bricks or something the right way up.

I would say that he is taking a floor pan to get one with the hydro line channel in it, all the ones you can buy don't have the channel. I was thinking of buying the shell for that reason, but will have to find out which floor pan he is taking.

for a buck that not bad, i mean think of all the woek you would do to a car that has a ton of rust in it, when you could spend a bit of money and get the dints knocket outa it, still i dont know why its stored on its roof, and why would he cut the floor out ? lol

Well, depending on the final price it would be worth looking at if you were nearby. I'm not obviously. But it is still a bit of a waste of a shell. They should join a club and source just the parts they want for their project.

Well I contacted the guy and he seems quite nice :)..

He did not know that floor pans were available so I have pointed him in the right direction and asked if he has another Mini he is doing up and what model it is.

So hopefully he wont have to cut this Mini's floor pan up :)..
