Been getting alot of fanging about in low gears (ie you feel like the engine is trying to jump out of the car when accelerating opr deccelerating in 1st / 2nd). So as I was meaning to do for a while, I checked all the front subframe bolts. Shocking! At the front, the right side one was finger loose, the 4 rear ones were really loose too. Only the 4 top ones were fairly tight. So for the time being replaced the front ones with some SS M10 (imperial sizes werent available) bolts with towing eyelets as I've been meaning too and retightened all the others. When I have some time (never probably) will take them out, and replace or atleast clean them and loctite them back in. Gonna recheck the rear ones too tonight. So check your subframe mounts people. Or atleast pretend you do. Oh, and my rear ones are probably just 5/16 thread with a standard washer between them and the floor panel and they are sinking into the bitumen on the floor. Should I use some larger washers to reinforce them etc? |

The rear ones have flat washers and they do sit a bit into the floor normally. These used to come loose on Ha-Ha, so now he has lock there nuts too... ![]() |

They werent really sunk into the floor, as much as into the thin layer of bitumen like coating (which is great just judging by the rust free state of my floors) on the floor. The washers though do look a bit inadequate, so they will be replaced with something just a little bigger eventualy. |
