My fresh motor build leaks oil. ![]() I went to Karcraft today and found out that a 'full gasket kit' is catered for a 998 / 1098 pre 1975. These motors have a shallow groove in the side plate (needing a thin cork gasket), and only need a washer to seal the bolt. Late 998's, 1098's and ALL Cooper S's had deep grooves in the side plates (needing a thick rubber type gasket) and an 'o-ring' and 'cup' to seal the bolt. If you don't use these on a late type motor, you will get bad leaks!!! (as I have found out) So for a mere $12 my motor will now be leak free! |
