G;day everyone,
I've been reading your forum for quite a while now and thought it about time i join up. Ive got a pretty simple question about flip fronts, im wondering if it is possible to use a flip front to change a later leyland shaped mini to a roundnose, also whats the roadworthy situation regarding flip fronts?

also, has anyone here actually put a vtec or starlet donk into their mini? I mean engineered registered the whole nine yards, im selling a few vespas and a lambretta soon cos i want a mini ute (hopefully a cut down van) and i reckon i should have about 12 grand to play with. Do you guys reckon i could build one for that? The only experience ive had with minis so far was buyinfg one for 600 bux years ago, them buying a 1275 engine and mini k box and front cooper s discs to go into it, but i got the shits with it and sold the engine and box and the shell is still sitting in my drive happily rusting away. But seein as im actually gonna have the moolah to do somethin, are there people who post on here who would be up to helping me build this baby? Dont worry id be happy to make it worth someones while to help me out. I thought about going to mini mak to get it done, but the bloke there aint the friendliest guy in the world, and i reckon that the other main shops would be too pricey.

Anyway its good to be a part of the mini aus group finally cheers

Hi mate and melcome to the Mad House..

1. Put your location in your profile so we know were you are of you even need help or want to buy/sell stuff. saves everyone asking.

2. yep you can put a clubby flip on a round nose or a round nose on a clubby. YES IT WILL HAVE TO BE ENGINEERED... I am doing a removable flip front on my project ATM,

3. As for the engine conversions.. have a look in the engine conversion section on this forum. a few starlet minis there.
As for the VTEC. I am not sure if anyone out here has got one funnly done yet... I do belive you have to extend the front gaurds 6 -7 cm for it to fit.

as for 12K doing the trick. well It all depends on what you want, how much of the work you can do to cut costs. but you should get one going for that..

My project ATM owes my 10K and its sitting there still needing engine, gauges, and 3/4 of the interior so around 20K and it might be done the way I want it.

Cody

Welcome Tulla...obviously another mexican :D

Depending on how handy you are...and how much of the work you do yourself...I think you can build an engine-conversion ute for what you have with change left over....others will confirm the amount of time and effort required :D
