hello all.

yesturday i decided to do the right thing by my mini and give it a bit a tlc.
so i washed it......degreesed the engine so its was nice and shiny....changed the oil and oil filter....and fitted new plugs.....i was happy that i did a good job and told my mini after i had done it all it had better treat me well with a month of no stuff ups or ill be mad.
well.....driving too work at 6am and about 1 minute from work i hear a tick tick tick sound comming from the engine bay like something is hitting the fan or something....so i slow down and get ready to stop and it goes away so i proceed to my work and get to the drive way and bang.....wholy crap.....the thing made an awfull noise like the alternator had seased or something and water started pissing over the windscreen too.
got too work and opened the bonet and gues what????you know the vent pipe most people have on there clutch housing????well ive got one of them on my timming cover side right near the fan as it happens....and the bloody thing decided to crack away from the timming coverso im gusing the welds broke or something and fall into the fan....so you can probely gues what happened.....the timming cover vent pipe is stuffed and my fan is missing about all but 2 blades and too top it all off the fan punchered my nice and $$$$ alloy radiator too.
so my day today was stuffed from about 6am and onwards....
has anyone had this happen to them b4???? as linkautomotive says they have never seen it happen ???
i sometimes wounder if i was never ment to own a mini????
ill leave you all now and have a good cry....

I've had crap hit the fan before, but I haven't actually had crap hit the fan, if you know what I mean.
Apart from the mentioned parts, anything else stuffed?
Maybe you should be relieved it wasn't worse.
Good luck mate.

What a bugger :x I've had a metal fan blade snap off and inbed itself in the radiator core - luckily it was just a Morris 1100 radiator, not a pricey alloy job. Also had a plastic fan blade shear off a Range Rover fan - went straight through the plastic cowling and put a dirty big dent in the alloy bonnet.

well its all fixed now....$600 later and a new recored 4 core radiator fitted...new fan...and new timming cover with breather too ...this was a costly experince for me as i had just had rust taken out from the rigfht side door step and door too witch cost me $1100 so ive spent around $1700 this fourghtnight alone....spoke to link automotive and they said they found some yellow plastic inside the fan cover so im gusing i hit something on the road and it was this that hit my fan blade and bent it witch then hit my breather as well witch hit the fan again witch went into the core....fingers crossed nothing else this month to repair for me....

oohhh what fun it is to own a mini is all i can say.

Baracade and I did an exorcism on our minis last week - wondered where the bad luck spirit went.

Yep - that's bad luck.
