Post subject: | Vacuum Advance |
The vacuum advance on my distributor is punctured. This is letting in air for the dizzy?? or so i am told. something like that. Is it worth spending 60 bux for a new one? While its on the dyno, this is what he found and he said to get back to him as he can do more tuning once its fitted. Let me know. WIll. |

well if theres not as much vacuum occuring then you probably wont be getting as much advance......you might get more power at higher revs if you get it fixed dude |

The vac advance thingy only works at part throttle. It's an economy device, nothing more. At the risk of getting flamed, I will state: "real performance engines don't need vac advance to get power". examples: Morris Cooper S 99% of real race Minis Fiat twin cams Alfa twin cams etc etc. I have now donned my asbestos suit, so flame away! ![]() |

Well its back from the dyno. He replaced the vac advance on it with a reconditioned one... 60 bux. Runs so much better... made the world of differece. Will post up the "bragging rights" when i go back there to pick up the printout. Left it behind ![]() |

All Minis have 20-30* mechanical (centrifugal) advance at crank, even if the vac advance is not working..... ![]() |
