I use turps to wash the filter then use FinerFilter oil. Can't buy it now so use UniFilter oil (similar stuff).
The current recommendation is wash the foam with detergent but I've had no probs with turps as they used to recommend.

Wash in turps until clean, squeeze it out, let dry a bit then oil. Squeeze out excess. |

Dunno but turps is mineral based and cleans out mineral oil better.
