Post subject:  brake lights arnt working

i wanna get rego check today but my brake lights at the back arnt working. my brakes were recently broken and i noticed that my brake lights work when the pedal is fully in or a little bit away from the firewall. but now that they are working... my lights wont come on, and i dont think i can push it hard enough to get them to come on.

is there an easy way to fix this problem? or should i just take it to sum1 to get it looked at?

The brake light switch on most Clubbies is in the car ,on the brake pedal. Screw it out a bit....

before fiddling maybe get someone to check your lights while you press the switch with your fingers or sonething pokey.....dunno if that would work but if you can push the switch in and they come on then fiddle with the switch...saves you screwing it out and then it still not working....maybe? :?

I thought that was a very late clubby thing.....dual circuit period.

My 76 doesn't have a cabin brake switch.

If it does not have a swith at the Peddal box...check the connection down on the relay on the subframe on the clutch side

77-78 had them, LS's specifically had them. my old 77LS had one, took ages to locate an original switch, but it can be replaced with a switch from dick smiths.

Cheers

No Jim it's not a relay, the early ones have a hydraulic pressure switch screwed into the fitting above the RH front brake hose.
Below the clutch cover...
Not fun to get at....

Happy Birthday Stuvz.
To check if brake lights working, park the back of the car near a wall or put something white behind your car. It will reflect the glow if the brake lights come on.

Its more than likely the button on your pedal has become dislodged or needs adjusting.

Your doors - there are little pins that it swivles on when opening, one of my pins started to fall out, but I managed to stick it back in before the handle wouldnt work. If its that, with any luck the pins are still there just not in the right spot. Check it now while theres a chance the pin is still half stuck in your door.
