Hello was wondering if someone can please let me know if their hand brake setup is the same as mine which is pictured below?

Image

As I am just wondering if this is an orginal setup or something someone has modified and added.

In particular to the actual hand brake warning light swtich and how it is mounted to the side of the hand brake via a metal plate. Also the right hand nut brake adjuster including the metal plate setup it seems to have.

Thanks

thats as std as they come, well except for the warning light, the std std clubbies didn't have them, that was for the fancy s and ss and ls and gt types(sorry if i didn't include a sunshine and any other weird "special" leyland tried to flog off more mini's promoting them as different)

Cheers

Aaron

Yes thats what I thought too.. I did not think the right hand nut was original... So this is why I am querying this setup...

I have another nut which is exactly the same as the left hand one. But this nut like the one on the left is concave so as it fits neatly around the oval shaped silver part of the hand brake as pictured. But the problem is I cannot put this nut on the right hand side of the hand brake because of the metal plate being flat on the right hand side.

So this is why I was wondering what was going on and if this metal plate setup on the right hand side is original or not.

So if this is an original setup and that metal plate is suppose to be there on the right hand side can someone please tell me what is the original nut that should be there in place of the bodgy one?

Thanks..

Well I was going to go tommorow but not to sure now.. As I pulled the door rubbers off Granny today and I spotted some surface rust :(... So I used my dremel on it to clean it up and put some rust killer on it.. But have to wait for 24 hours for it to dry properly.. Well so the instructions said anyway..

So not to sure if I will make it now.. As I wanted to take Granny along but I also wanted to put the new door rubbers on here and give her a bath...

I guess I could just pop up in the Camry and admire all the other beautiful Minis there though :)..

Are you going to be there?

Both the nuts are the right ones.
That looks the same as mine. (1275LS) Even the nuts are the same. The brake light was fitted to all later cars not just the LS,SS,etc. It became law to have a handbrake light.

The bottom nut is the correct one. The top one is concave to stop it undoing, the bottom one needs the nylock to stop it undoing.

The only thing different to mine is that my nuts are done up a lot more! (too many handbrakies!)

Ok thanks glad to have that all sorted out :)...

I found out last night that even the standard Clubmans that were made in 77 or was it 76 and upwards had the brake warning light fitted..

Anyway thanks for all your help much appreciated :)..
