I'm getting spark at the breaker point but none at the plugs, and when the cap is on the dizzy, I'm getting a spark to the clip holding the cap on. Do I need to replace the inards of the dizzy? Or is it a more serious issue? ![]() |

The caps cracked is my guess, replace it, along with new points, when was the last time you renewed it, if never. new plug, caps, points, condensor and i would even go as far as getting a new coil. Dissy by itself won't cause what your describing. it'll just change it's advance curve charectoristics. I am sure there will be someone else to tell you all about the wonders of electronic ignition, but if you keep your system maintained, points will work well for you. Cheers Aaron |

![]() Yep sounds like a cracked cap or a track has burn't into the cap....or some other component like the condensor, points or wiring shorting to the spring clip. How good are your plug leads?...they could be breaking down I suppose.... |

Is the top of the dizzy cap clean? Are the plug leads clean? Any dirt and oil on the top of the cap can cause the spark to jump. |

The cap looks near new. The point look a little rough but clean and the leads aarn't that old. Might just replace the inards, cap and leads just to be sure. I was guestamating a short in the wiring or something as it went suddenly while driving in the wet....cheers ![]() |
