Post subject:  Worlds Wierdest Problem

Ok, so basically earlier today I am peacefully driving my clubby home from work, and I realise the indicators arn't working, the green lights on the dash don't flash, and they don't work externally... odd

Then something wierder started to happen. Whenever I would click on the indicator to try it out, a red light came on in the dial (I've dubbed it the "something must be up" light, as I have no idea what it does), and then both my petrol and temperature guages flatlined...wierd

Then, after a short period of time, the light goes off, the guages resest, but when I try the indicators it happens again... odd

Then I decide that the indicators are a write off, but the red light came back on again switching gears to 3rd!

Anyone have any idea whats happenening to by beloved car? is it a simple wiring/fuse issue, or do I have a poltergiest!?

your indicator stalk is stuffed. try and find another one and replace it or pull it off and find the offending problem. .

Cheers

Dirty fusebox.

The red light is the charge light. When it comes on the alternator (or generator) is not working. If the fusebox is dirty it can cause all sorts of problems.

Wiggle the fuses and see if the problem gets better. :P

i had a similar issue, but it didnt happen when i changed gears! for me it was just a blown fuse. so i replaced it and it blew while i was putting it in... could be the dirty 'box, or it could be a short somewhere...

I hada a similar issue, when I put my headlights they went on but my temperature guage went through the roof  it gave me a scare I disconnected the plug at the back of the guages and plugged it back in and it was fine :? I figured some of the connections were dodgy, so maybe check your connections around the guages and indicator stalk and make sure there are no shorts etc.
