Before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, I've used the search function and can't find what i'm after

I saw a mini the other day and I asked the owner about his resto's. He said he only gave the inside and boot of his mini resto a light sand to get flaking paint off etc. He didn't give the inside much attention at all before painting :? But I want mine done properly so..

How thorough should I be with the inside of my shell and boot - Do I strip it back as much as possible? Any input is appreciated :D

Take that JAM :D

If you are going the full resto, strip the inside back as best you can. There would be nothing worse than doing the car on the outside and having it eaten by rust from the inside out, by then it would be too late to fix. Just because it looks reasonable doesn't mean it's perfect underneath.

Does anyone have any pics of their stripped boot, inside etc before it was painted?

Fruity

If the car is being stripped do the lot as the end result will make it all worth while. Imagine taking the mini out and every goes it will ensure the car does last longer. Where you can save is under trim panels paint what can be seen but not what can't. Treat behind panels if needed and start inside by painting only what can be seen and work your way out.

If competing for throphies do the lot if the car is going to get a serious daily work out don't worry so much.

Is the blue mini not yours?

if you want ot done properly you kinda have to do the inside especially the floor (if you have one left LOL) we are both electric wire brushing our floors back to be sure we find any probs then rust treating with fertan then etch primegetting sa good unbroken skin over freshly rust removed and treated metal is probably as good a rust protection as your going to get..on the assumption you arent going to fishoil your interior..
and fresh paint looks so goooood on a prepared surface...Ahhhhhhhhh

Not YET it isn't

I am most definately painting the inside.

danidad - the floor is in remarkably good condition but I wasn't sure if a wire wheel/brush was a tad harsh for the floor or not, but may give that a go..I'm not priming(etc) myself I'm having the car professionally painted on the side  but am doing all the prep work myself!

Thanks guys.. I just my baby to be bewdiful
