as far as I'm aware, the hazard light relies on the same flasher unit as the indicators, it just bridges the gap (so to speak) between the left and right indicator lights allowing all to flash. I'm working on putting a hazard light in my mini without the flashing speed slowing. Not sure how it does it and have been studying the electrical circuit diagram of a toyota ute. First thing I suppse I would check is the switch to make sure it works |

sounds like a typo... try it like this... does it mean i need to change the "bulb"?? I'd say no - all sounds normal to me. You don't get control of indicators when your hazards are active. |

This happens when? if you have indicators off and turning on the Hazards? or Hazards on and trying to use the indicators at the same time? |

we're not getting into auto-eroticism here are we? Brings new meaning to the phrase "I love my mini" flasher units are funny buggers. Basically just a big capacitor but from what you say, if the right indicator works normally and all the bulbs are good, then I'd check the connection from your flasher unit, from your switch. |

For all rushing out to their Mini's searching for a hazard light switch, this is a 90's import, so you prolly wont find the switch! |

yup, knew that. Actually, the angle the mini is sitting at (ie, no weight over the front wheels) my aged next door neighbour asked if I was checking for oil leaks and was most surprised to hear that I had bought a mini with no engine. (No hazard lights either) |

K Ryan - so the hazards no work You're getting the ticking sound so the flasher unit sounds like it's working OK [or trying to] so it is most likely a problem with a poor earth. Check that the connecting wires to the Hazard switch are making a good metal to melal contact. [take them off and clean them if you have to. Do the same for the flasher unit wires Take out all 4 indicator globes [sorry "bobs"] and run some sandpaper around the inside of the globe fitting to get a better contact for the "bobs" You could also check the terminals in the fuse box and give them a sanding as well to get a good electrical contact through there as well. Hope it helps Dat |
