Post subject:  Plugs - BP6ES or BP5ES

This question has come about from a a brief comment in another post.

For an A series motor, with unleaded head and running on 98 octane unleaded fuel, are BP6ES plugs OK, or should you use BP5ES plugs?

....and why?

You can use either. If you drive it hard the 6s are good, if lotsa traffic stick to 5s.
I use 6s in ha-ha, for wakefield I put 7s in.

Try them...

Cause Graham says so, cause they burn hotter so don't foul up as much, cuase... I think they burn better. I used to have heaps of problems with BP6ES until I changed to BP5ES and never looked back.

Have you checked your plugs? if there's nothing wrong, why bother? save your dosh until something goes wrong I say..

this may sound stupid but are the BP5ES alright for a fair bit of highway use?

If you have your carb set up right, then i would use 6es for long hwy use. as most cars lean out toward the top end(i say most, not all) City driving 5es. in the heat of summer you car is gonna run hot enough so i stick with 6es for dec, jan, feb, then switch back to 5es. Works for me

Cheers
Aaron
