Hello everyone was wondering if someone can please tell me where these parts pictured in the following photo come from? ![]() As I was cleaning Granny's boot out today and I found these things and I am unsure as to where they go... Apart from the battery holder which is missing something on one end. So any help in identifying these bits and what other part is missing from the battery holder will be greatly appreciated... Thanks.. |

Yer Battery Holder on the right Missing one holder....I'd say the rubber is just junk other wise you can put inbetween the holden and the Battery and the Other looks like an Earth Strap ![]() |

Ok thanks Gafmo ![]() The actual part which you said is an earth strap actually is made up of dry old rubber.. Much like an elastic band thingy.. I am wondering if this holds the batter box down in place and if so how does it attach.. Of course I will have to recondition it but I was just curious as to how it is mounted... Also do you know what that black bit of plastic is underneath the battery holder? As it feels like cardboard that is covered with black vinyl... Thanks.. |

It does and is bloody rare if original. There should be two hooks either side of the battery box, (the ftont one is part of the earth terminal bolt. |

Ok thanks guys ![]() Yep the yellowy goldy coloured thing with holes in it I think is made of rubber. Well apart from the end clips which are metal.. It looks like it is made of rubber as it has perished very badly over the years and well you cannot straighten it out otherwise it will fall to bits.. So I will just hang onto it for the time being till I can figure out what to do with it.. Thanks.. |

The rubber strip probably sits below that metal strip to cushion it, the black rectangle probably goes under the battery in the battery box (guess) and if you have a cardboard or plastic cover on top of the battery the elastic probably goes over that, I know on Ks the cover gets knocked off pretty easy maybe that was a shortterm if rather pissy solution lol ![]() |

There definitely should be a rubber strip there to hold the cardboard cover in place. Originaly these were the equivalent to today's rubber tie downs, in brown rubber. Not many original ones survive obviously as they were rubber items next to battery acid, petrol fumes, etc. |

100% conformation on strap it goes over battery cover and holds it down, does clip into too stell eyes that are welded around top edge of battery box, I know cause our cars have them new from factory and one would assume still would be avalable, and yes metal objecy holds on to battery under battery cover and missing one bolt, this should have an angle in it and fits onto the corner of the battery other two bits cant help if you need a pic let us know, (of the two ther items Monaro |
