Theres a good LS 1275, with Webber and Modified Engine for $4700 in Tas,
and also there was a
'SS' mini, in the paper, apparently one of 500, i rang up.
All working, jusa onwt fire, small rust, the bloke said he has been told that not to let it go for about less than 4K
Which is ridiculous for Tassie prices

There is a Genuine Cooper 'S' Also for sale here, 20 grand for that one.

Also there was a 1310 with yellow and black checked roof, that i saw at the HQ racing last year in the car park, and it were also at minifest 2004, "Fat Brick" it were called.
that was forsale last 3 weeks for 13K.

I've already called the guy in adelaide about the mini and am going for a looksy on monday.
Sounds alright, the only thing is that the brakes werent upgraded along with the engine so its a 1275cc on drums :-/

Well, i'm seriously considering it,
the body all seems fairly straight, a bit of surface rust around the place, no major dents or anything. inside its a little worse for wear, no carpets in the front, and the seats have some pretty big tears, but nothing that couldnt be fixed up with a bit of love and some money

It's the first non-hydro mini i've been in, so the ride was a little bumpier than i'm used to, but it still stuck to the road pretty well. The brakes aren't in great shape, it takes a fair bit of effort to slow it down, which is a problem cos the engine is fantastic, pulls beautifully and runs like a dream. The rear right seam is starting to rust out quite badly and would need attention, and the paint is quite faded.

It seems like quite a rare car though, it has the original mini front grill, sliding windows, and the starter button on the floor. The speedo doesn't work, but it has had a tacho retrofitted. There are some niggly bits, the wipers need new springs, and the inside passengers door handle is missing.

It definately needs some love, but with a bit of work (and some disc brakes), it'd be an awsome car. For the price it seems like a good buy, especially considering its got the 1275cc engine already. I'm supposed to call him back tonight, but i can't make up my mind :-(

just remember you'll probably have to spend that again just to get it roadworthy, but i can't imagine a better way to get into minis than with a 1275cc engine.

I'm meant to ring back at 6 with a decision,
there is another guy who is interested as well :-/

i'm very tempted, its not in perfect condition, but for a 40 year old car its doing pretty well. I would have to upgrade the brakes to discs relatively soon, but even if thats another grand on top then it's still a reasonable buy. Other than the brakes and the rear right seam, nothing really needs any major attention, so fixing it all up would really be a matter of time rather than money. It does feel like i'm rushing things a bit, but i'd also hate to miss out on such a nice car, and when the trader comes out in print i don't think it's going to be around for much longer at all...

if we could see pics of the car we could tell you if its a good buy. Any Mk1 will be worn quite badly, but if you intend to spend a fair bit doing up a mini anyway...

If your looking to put it on the road within 6 months, I'd forget about it. In the long run it will cost you too much and your better off buying a car that's already had the money spent by someone else i.e 62 smurf. But if your looking for a long term project car, $2000 is cheap for what's on offer. Knowing you've restored the car yourself eliminates any hidden surprises. 8)

I rang up a friend who is a mechanic, and he gave me the number of a guy with a fair bit of mini knowledge and we talked about everything for a while, anyway in the end i decided that it was a worthwhile purchase, so i rang up and offered $1800 and he said yes :-)
i'm picking it up tomorrow, w00t, I (nearly) own a mini XD.

edit: thanks for the advice guys, it'll be a weekend project car so i'm not too fussed about getting it in roadworthy condition anytime soon, it's already registered and the guy uses it as a daily driver, so it shouldnt take too much to get it into good condition.
