Post subject:  Roundnose clubman?

I'm new to this lark, but am wondering the legalities re: NSW blue slip, of fitting a roundnose to the crumpled front end of our family Clubman. I'm currently refitting the interior along with a handmade dash, but would probably search for a roundnose body if it won't pass rego with the new front panels. It runs but the alternator doesn't (might look at the 75amp Bosch fitting that is on Antons J_A_M site).
Cheers, Any ideas appreciated.
P.S. I looked at the MKIII shell in Sydney Trading Post, ad said no rust but maybe they meant no rust 10yrs ago 8)

There are a few about. My mate Chris had one, Mini & Moke World did it. Can't see any problem really- the basic structure is pretty well the same except inner guards and bonnet hinges are different..
Fitting bonnet hinges is a bit hard, so his had pins front and back, lifts off..

Thanks, Kevin. But will it get through the blue slip? That's my major concern. I haven't blue slipped a vehicle before so I don't know how specific they are when checking them. The car gave me it's first major injury today, nice slice straght through my thumb when removing the binnicle bolts inside the engine bay. Hurt like buggery but I bet it won't be the last time she gets me

I'd go to a blue slip station and ask the question. If all else fails, you may need an engineers report.
I can't see it being illegal- they built both Clubbies and roundnose at the same time in UK, then dropped the Clubbie.

 Is that the one selling for $400? It has been inthe trading post for weeks and weeks!!! I have seen it so many times I was tempted to go kick the tyres....

I once saw a clubby with a round nose. The guy was selling the shell for $1500, and that was 2 years ago. I didn't buy that one...bought J_A_M the next week.

I have a really good and helpfull contact in the RTA who answers any engineering / registration emails you throw at him. I have been bugging him for a few years  . PM me if you want his email addy.

Anton.

That's the same mini, but you can't go kick it's tyres cause it aint got any. The guy selling it, Bill, was real good to talk to however. It's at Mount Druitt, in some industrial area. I thought about it as a front cut as the body is shot(sills, foot wells, seams, hole straight through body behind drivers door, etc etc) but decided against it, felt it wasn't good value. Doogie9plus had a round front cut on eBay a while back for $100. Hopefully I can get something similar. Anton, really like your site, it's what motivated me to do the car we have. Thanks.

Thanks guys. My site is shifting away from 'my car' to a tech reference site for the non-professional (like most of us).

The more I do to my car, the more I will have to offer in tech reference articles.
