What is your experience? I know some people don't bother, so don't tell me that. I am building a van that is going to be worth a lot of money and it has to be insured. I would like to supercharge it but all the answers I get so far is no one will touch it with a blower.

The typical reply seems to be that Shannons are the most sympathetic to mods and modded cars so I reckon give them a try

NRMA is will charge you a few grand a year to insure your car for market value... which won't be much. In my case they wanted to charge me more per year then they would insure the car for... I wouldn't even bother with them.

I rang Shannons today and explained that the owner would be under 25. The instant reply was they didn't want to know. We then negotiated for about 15 minutes and consulted with people higher up in the company we came to an agreement. If I take photos of the build and have supporting evidence of my son building and owning it they will insure him. Also he must be a member of a car club and they liked the idea he had been racing karts since he was nine. This is my third attempt to talk to Shannons as at both previous attempts they have fobbed me off with a quick "no". So this is one company that can be talked to, not like all the others.

Shannons were one of only two companies that would touch our Rover's.
Being an import nobody else would.
They said if it passed a Transport SA full inspection it was all ok.
