How many people will I need to lift a motor, on box. No carb, or alt, but it has manifold and dizzy installed? I have to move one, not too far away from where it is, but I need to know how many people to invite over, for say a BBQ, and then tell 'em...."Hey, while you are all here....."

I use a skate board to move a mini motor/box around- still need 2 people. Olly. |

Go to Bunnings/ Super Cheap etc and buy one of those furniture trolleys with the big knobby pneumatic tyres. Usually less than $50. They are fantastic for moving Mini engines around, and you can use them to move house as well!

The block and head, could comfotably be carried by two. Really dunno bout the g/box as well. Anything bigger, and I'd be using an engine hoist hehehe. Every engine change I do, I use a forklift. different engines but hehe |

glad to hear im not the only one who uses skateboards 
2 people should be able to do it, id reccomend a trolley of some kind, very useful (or a skateboard) |

Just ask a mate of mine to give you a very comical recreation of my attempts to get a full power unit (complete with ancillaries and oil) off a trailer. Chris had a good grip on his end, and my end plummeted to the ground in about 1 split second  Glad my foot wasn't in the way! Two stronger people can lift an engine easy. I'm just not prime candidate. I don't drive a Mini for nothing you know....

In my experience, it takes 20 people to shift a motor.... You and another to lift it, then the other 18 to help watch... |

Well, in my experience. One person can lift the engine/gearbox for a short way or to lift onto the back of a ute. Two people can do it easily and if you're doing something fiddly, such as lowering the body onto the subframe, three people - two to lift, one to guide is ideal. When I was fixing up my old engine, I made a little trolly from a thick sheet of particle board and 4 rolling wheels brough from bunnings |

One person (with trolley or engine crane) Two people (with beer, and trolley or engine crane) Two people (with steel cap boots) Three people (without steel cap boots) Watch out for SuperCheaps adverts as I got my trolley on special for $20 and it works great. Saves having to wait for someone to come home to move an engine! HRS |
