Quick question, what do i need for the steering rack boot? SAE90 Hypoid oil? or can I use regular Castrol LMM? (already got the stuff) I think it's currently got the Hypoid oil in it, looks runny not viscous like regular grease... Cheers, Chong |

I'd use the SAE90 Hypoid oil. Manual gearboxes, differentials, and steering boxes rely more on the high pressure oil being a thin film between the gear teeth for their lubricating property. Grease may be too viscous to remain in contact with all of the teeth at once. |

I think ya got ripped off. I think the metal ties are better for longevity. It doesnt take long once the CV boot has fallen off to stuff the CV's. I make it a rule that if the boot comes off, the entire joint gets regreased. So I prefer that the boot doesnt come off. I recently did all four joints (2 CV's, and 2 inner potjoints). I bought the outers from a mini mechanic locally, and got one with metal tiestraps, and one with panduits(cable ties). I got the inners from another joint, and got both with metal tie straps. I wont be going back to the mechanic. he tuned my car up supposedly, yet the dizzy was free to turn, and it was running like a pig when I got it back. NOT HAPPY There is also a method of wrapping two loops of wire around them and tying them off called lockwiring. Easier to use the tie straps. Just remember that whatever you use, make sure the tail of the strap goes opposite the direction of the CV travel, to stop it loosening off |

Righto, will be using metal tie straps! I thought that the plastic ones seemed bodgey! I got ripped big time, I assumed metal tie straps with this kit

Hey Lux, dont go too silly. Go to any CV joint, or suspension joint in town. Ya should be able to get the metal straps at any of them for a dollar or two each Somebody should be able to help ya out with them. They're a generic size, and ya just cut the tail off to suit |

Dog's dangles, as taken from the term Dogs Bollocks of the Pom's(which means it's the best). Directly opposite to plain BOLLOCKS which is just utter crap. |
