Peeps,

I'm trying to find info on QIK 850. The red supercarged 850 shell. I was always under the impression that at some stage it was Oz's fastest fwd over the qtr.

ANybody know where i can find info on the car or have a list of Oz's fastest fwd cars?

mate that car if its the one im thinking of, stripped out shell, supercharged with slicks then it would be in the same catergory as the online crx that has run 9.0@160mph. Or the croydon racing civic 10.2@137.

I think the fastest time i can recall say 5 years back was Nathan Semmens Honda CRX that ran a 10.723@ 143.63.

QIK 850 was written off in a road accident in northern NSW, years ago. Ian Anlezark's it was.
Did 12S way back when.

It's old Brad, REAL old. I think the car is actually no longer with us. I was speaking to Twincammini about s/charging the gti set up. I was suggesting it would be quite dissappointing to have a s/charged gti set up struggling to break in the 13 sec barrier when that QIK 850 ran in the 12's years ago (I thought).

it all comes down to weight and traction. You can run 12s in a mini but you will need to be around 500kg, have 7 inch wide slicks and about 140hp@wheels. I ran the 13 with 750kg, 6 inch wide street tyres with 133hp@wheels.

How much weight can you actually remove from a mini? I know that is a fairly ambigous question but unless you go to great expense there isn't really that much you can 'take out' is there?

spare tyre, carpets, lining, door cards, passenger & rear seats.
Light weight battery & only 5L in the tank.
It all ads up

Then if you're a racer:
lightweight non adjustable seat
perspex windows
remove redundant wiring, speedo, horn etc
remove battery box
strip all under car body deadner
debumper/mirrors/chrome
honeycomb the subframes...

and that's without going alloy/carbon fibre

Buy a set of holesaws... make it look like Don Holland's lightweight... :P
Small bits of tin don't seem much but it all adds up!!
