Erg so okay.
Another new topic for the Big Wilster.

Freaking Moke is looking sadder and sadder.
I've decided that i'll only buy it off him if he has the registration papers and it can be registered in my name.
End of that.
So yeah time will tell if he can find the papers, and whatnot.
Anyone know if you can transfer registration WITHOUT the papers and no inspection (given that it was last registered in Mar '88, i doubt he's kept the papers that long! )

Which puts me again, with no car, and still looking.

I could always buy a 1000 dollar runabout car.
Just for exactly that.

Or a mini.
a $1000 mini is pretty damn shabby.
Lets face it.
So, i'm driving this LS around (998 spec, but supposedly has lots of 1275 bits).
I could buy this.
And 'do it up'.
Its Nugget Gold.
Rust patches.
Boot lid is punctured.
There isnt really a straight panel on it.
It would be a fairly big project.

So now i have a headache.

What should i do?
If i bought a car, reasonable condition, i'd pay up to $2000.
If i were doing a project, it'd be a lot less.
Of course.

Good evening.
Young willy.

You were confused before this...

Drive the LS until you find what you want?
don't just buy something because it's there now.

You'll regret that in a couple of months.

Can't speak for the state you are in willy,
but over here, all that is required to register an unlisenced vehicle with no papers is to sign a Statutory Declaration stating that you purchased it lawfully etc. (good idea to get a a dated receipt with the sellers name, address & signature anyway).

Of course check that it aint stolen first - do you have REVS (Register of Encumbered Vehicles) in your backwater town?

I have done this before, and will be doing it again with the Moke. They have the forms, and can usually be witnessed by one of the higher paid pencil pushers in the rego office. Signed, sealed, delivered

as far as the moke, you don't need the papers, you can just get a form and fill it in when you go to register it..

i didnt have papers for the interceptor when i rego'd that..
found em a few weeks later under the back seat i think.
he didnt even ask to see the receipt of sale.

Yeah but you NEEDED
Vin and Engine and BODY numbers right?
And if these don't match on the rego form that you fill out to whats on file, you get a nice surprise to get the vehicle sent down to Regency Park for an ID check.
its **** up.
Plain and simple.
