Could anyone tell me if there were any early Cooper S 1275, that came out without Hardie Spicers?? My gearbox is 22g1128 with rubber crosses. Any help would be appreciated, Colin

You say it is a 1964 cooper S. That means it's not an Aussie built car. I understand that the very early 1070 S in england came with the rubber uni's, for a few hundred cars. Most were retro fitted at the dealer once hardy spicers came into the fore.

You probably have a mini K box, not the original S box. The 12g1128 box (4 synchro remote change) came out in 1969 on Mini K's and the Cooper S. If it is the original box, the numbers on the raised flat place to the left of the 12g1128 casting number will have the engine number stamped ( a portion of it).

Send us some pics if you need more info.

Cheers
Matt

I think the answer is no.

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention I am in NZ. Also the car is english built. Regarding that number stamped next to the box number, I will have a look tomorrow. Cheers for the replies
