Post subject: | 998 RPM range?? |
Hey, What RPM would an internaly standard 998 engine reach. Just wondering as im looking for a Tacho. Ive found one made by Pricol, 85mm, which is 8000rpm. $145 (in dash) clasic looks for my clubby. also, is this still ok, if/when i install a hotter 1100engine?? thanks. |

a streetable mini shouldnt reach more than 7000 when highly worked, so an 8000rpm tacho will be more than enough. a stocko 998 will rev to like 6000 if you're lucky.. redline at 5500 |

The 998 is a strong engine. With the right mods (cam, head, carb and exhaust/extractors) it will rev hard all day. |

I've revved NAV's 998 to around 6,000 a couple of times accidently (i was busy ![]() I don't think the cam in them is any good after that. Maybe an re-13 would sort that out? ![]() |

i did a 1:43 around mallala and i limited myself to 5000rpm my engine will rev to 6000 easily, and still be pulling hard, but for the big revs you need a big carb/manifold/valves/extractors/exhaust and double valve springs |

Mine starts valve bouncing at about 5500. Just a 1100, stocko head, 40 thou bore. |
