A mini I owned but had sold later managed to weld the jack to the floor of the boot. No real carnage though. ![]() |

Mini Mad welded the jack across the battery terminals at a chicane down the road here. Bit of fire but not bad. He got home, but battery was rooted... ![]() |

Scene: Dreary black rainy night, heavy traffic, fast lane of three, out side Bankstown Aerodrome. Suddenly everything goes black/no engine. Somehow every one misses me as I glide over to the kerbside. Thinking it is battery I immediately open boot, YIKES ![]() ![]() Smoke rising off jack neatly welded across both terminals ![]() Grab the warm jack and pull ![]() ![]() Widen stance and wrench jack off terminals...lights come on ![]() Be careful people ![]() |

After reading on here about the guy refitting his 2nd (right hand) tank, touching the terminals and the whole garage going up in flames, I made a plywood shelf covering the spare wheel and battery. Makes it tidier and easier to load as well as safe. |

Before the existance of Mike ![]() http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... light=fire A wire coat hanger was floating in the boot, 1st day of 'permanant' working for me, when i drove mini everyday, Contacted battery terminals and was off ![]() ![]() ![]() the blackness is still on the boot insides , i havent even scrubbed it, 10 months and more, ![]() ![]() I didnt realise until 6 months or so later that it had put a fairly decent melt mark in the battery ![]() ![]() right now i read Gafs comments and the answers are ype chuckin water on, the batt melted ![]() ![]() SO im asking for it again ![]() ![]() ![]() I think i cover it good enough though, so its alright ![]() |

agreed putting a mdf cover in the boot was the best thing ive done in a while much nicer ![]() |

If you can't be bothered making something up or getting the proper `predigested cardboard' cover, at least chuck a piece of carpet in there. Works for me... ![]() |

You could make a cover. Or just get a van and you will never have to worry about that sort of thing ever cause it has its own built in battery cover ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

for a couple of bux you can buy condoms for your terminals...like 99% of new cars have fitted standard. |
