G'day all,

I am having some issues setting the timing on my 76 clubman.

It is an 1100 mild head work, mild cam (spec unknown), GR inlet manifold, 1 1/2 SU.
All new points, condesor, cap, rotor, plugs, leads. Haven't got a new coil yet, but would that be it?

Points gap set to .015 and plug gap set. (can't remember off the top of my head)

I have tried statically setting the timing at 7.5 deg. however it still misses. does not run well at all. Did I do something wrong?

Is there another way of setting the timing that someone like me (dumbass) can do easily. Otherwise I will have to pay someone to do it.

If there is anyone out there that can shed some light, it would be most appreciated.

Go see Greig and get him to throw it on the dyno and have it tuned properly, with the correct needle as well as timing. It could very well be it is running way to lean at that point in the needle. Once it is done, you will have the right setup and can mark it all so as to have your reference point for further changes later on.
It's worth getting your car tuned by an expert at least once.

Ok as embarassing as it is I will let everyone know what the problem was.

Well after Dean, Josh and Brad came round and had a look, we couldn't figure out what was going on. Just wouldn't turn over smoothly.

We had spark and fuel but engine didn't want to run.

So took it to Greig at mini classic and within 2 seconds he spotted the problem.

The wire going from the negative side of the coil to the dizzy was shorting on the base of the dizzy.

fixed it up and now is running beautifully.
