There's been some discussion on another post about young people stuffing good mini's, while i don't agree with it in full, here's a example of people without the skills to do things right.

Image
Flares have been bogged to the body, note crap bonnet scoop.
Image
Original 71 clubman hoodlining with no tears, been repainted with red gloss paint.
Image
Rear parcel shelf torn open to accomidate full sik sub woofer & 6 x 9 speakers, the car could be flexed bt pushing on both C pillars.

Just a small example of what i had to fix on the car, im not taring every "young person" with the brush.

Okay but theres also people that say "Do what you want, its your mini".
I feel that you're a "genuine Cooper S" type of bloke.
this does not surprise me.

There's old people that do it too...
well maybe not old.
But look at Mutant for example.
You dont whinge about her cutting metal.
Why should you?
Its HER car, it was SOMEONE ELSES car...
get over it.

Yes willy, actually i have 2 Cooper S's, one looks standard on the outside, but it's not standard underneath, the 2nd will be a full works replica rally car.

As for the clubman, the fact that it was "structually unsafe" proves that they stuffed the car, it was 2 days to fix it up & get it safe again.

the car was butchered, no doubt, like the gauges screwed to the dash top with wood screws, seat belts held in with 3/8 bolts, i could type all night about the "faults" with the car.

Yer, blardy "kids" painting head linings!

My 850, which has matching numbers, has the original interior in it. The front seats aren't perfect, bit tatty, but nothing is torn. In fact, the drivers seat is in my van, hehe. Now the interior was messed around with before the person I bought it off got it. One part of the rear seat has been painted BRIGHT RED with a $2 can of paint, same with 1/2 of the 2 piece ORIGINAL 850 headlining. Now the rear seat and the headlining would of been PERFECT before people got at it. I might be able to get the crap off 1/2 of the rear seat, but the bit of the headlining they did, they tore either getting it in or out, as the other 1/2, which had not been done, was left in and is the most perfect original headlining I have ever seen! Ohwell.

The car is slowly getting restored, and will be the original colour, not the BRG it is now.

I must be an old person.

Blardy teenagers!

Yeah there are young people that modify, while thinking about what they are doing.
And those that don't.
By the looks of it... its the latter.

Silly people :x

I got the hoodlining back to looking tidy by using 2 cans of bone coloured vinyl spray, i did'nt think it would work, but the 2nd coat covered it up, phew.

YEh but tools come in all ages. JUst because one peopson is older than another does not mean that they know more or are more responsible...blablabla.

All i'm trying to say is that the young person crap is just that - crap. Everyone was young once...and not everyone grows up. I know of a fair few adults that act like they're twelve on a regular basis, and who dont know any better than a tweve year old.

i feel the same as william, its your mini and you can do what suits you. Theres no point having a car that you dont like and i bet everyones had a fiddle and put some customising bit on a car of theres at some point. yes maybe us teenages seem to not care bout or cars and just glue fully sick bits and bobs here but that is there choice. im a young person, and i really look after my car and like most of the original stuff, such as im trying to get the dash the same as original. my car was bout off someone a fair bit mature than me and the spaeaker holes have been cut out in the back using a cold chisel for some fully sick 6x9 speakers.

if this is all bout pops thread im sure anton will give it a good home and will not sell it to some guy who bogged flares onto his car and spay painted the hoodlining

:) ben

the safety issue i understand, and agree on

but customising the interior and other things is not a poblem assosiated with just young people.

Old people victimise us way too much. Have a look at yourself mate, your a joke.

mate i'm not saying that you victimised me, how do u even know i'm young. Its just that i have seen you write stuff like this bout young people b4, such as p-platers. Mate young people generally dont have money, they do what they can on the budget they have got.
eg, the red rooflining didnt look to be too bad a job, not to your taste, but someone out there liked it. And before you say, that they ruined a perfectly good headlining, how is it different than changing anything on a mini.

I'm not saying that you are victimising me, but sometimes think before you say something, you may offend people.

Just my 2 bob

that picture of the parcel shelf reminds me of me,
8 yrs ago i managed to get my dad to lend me his one owner 60000 mile
cooper s that hadnt been rego for 8 yrs and in perfect condition.
I had it for 7 months whilst my other car was getting fixed( smashed it)
Anyway point is i cut the pacelshelf to fit 6x9's in it
They where raised and im sure i can get new vinyl and board but from underneath
there will allways be cut metal.
Not happy with myself 8 yrs later and more mature and its mine.
Point is Im pissed at myself now.
read it as you want.

well im sure an older person could "stuff" a mini too, but i dont think it should be called stuff, i "modify" my mini because that is how i have always wanted my car. and most of the time the younger people dont have the money to "stuff" a car. but again its all about personal preferance, i am going to cut into a perfectly origional 1968 deluxe, not majorly but it wont be origional any more, but im making the car live again so no harm done.
