Quick question.
Got a price on a new exhaust today.
Ok cool with the prices but everyone says go rc40.
now the guy from cortis exhaust said he can fit a straight through muffler if i want instead.
Now is this going to be in my favour having less resistance in the muffler???
I know i should stick to 1.75 pipe for max performance.
p.s. its a mk2 cooper s mildly worked.
unit

Okay well i've had 7 exhausts on minis.
And my favourite has to be the Lukey "performance" muffler.
Its similar size to the RC40 and is just a resonator.
Awesome, crisp note.
Thats my recommendation.
RC40 is expensive for a "generic" muffler, and wank value too.

the straight through type will give maximum HP, and also sound much louder..

my favourite was the Lukey straighthrough race muffler, sounded race on my old deluxe.. i wonder if it still has it on there.

i paid like 50 bucks for it too, but now i don't know where to get them from, as kev at minitech now sells something else.. :?

get a resonator or hotdog in the middle the a straight thru muffler of your choice at the back,
im running a twin box rc40 which is a 1 3/4 pipe resonator and then straight thru muffler

measured a nice 91db :) nice sound too

I run a single box RC40 on Ha-Ha and a Lukey straight thru on Barney. Lukey make lots more noise.. car sounds faster but isn't...

RC-40 will give you better HP over the single box - all things being the same. Believe it or not, the twin box RC-40 gives better hp figures than the single one. Prices for the RC-40 are around the $185 and without the connecting pipe.

I like my lukey - easy to fit and sounds good. good at spraying sooty water all over cars parking too close to me...lol

Hooroo

Single box RC40 on my 1285 sounds pretty boring. Depends on if you want a nice raspy sound I guess.

I've got an RC40 twin box on my van, sounds ok but nothing exceptional. By contrast I had a Lukey on the Cooper S and with the Brownriggs this sounded sensational, though a lot louder than the RC 40.

 You talking about the JunBLs mate
Theyre nice.
But look very out of place on some cars.

It seems that Lukey is getting a lot of business by us mini blokes! :)

Might be time for a comeback of the old copper pipe with Coke can on end.. we had this on the baby Austin 7 paddock basher, and it sounded lovely!! :P
