Post subject: | Oil plug leak? |
Is oil leaking from the oil plug a standard mini problem? My plug has 2 aluminium washers that look stuffed, is this the standard washers. Anybody with any clues to fixing this, please help as I what to do an oil and filter change.javascript:emoticon(':)') |

I presume you're talking about the sump plug. Just take the plug out, walk to Supercheap, Repco, Autobarn, Autopro, or whoever is around and get a new copper washer from the bolt stand. Comes in those little packets the bolts come in. Blackwoods would have them over the counter as well. Should cost less than a dollar. |

I use a new copper washer every second oil change after that, they will usually leak |

Teflon tape is not a great idea... it can get in there and block things up. Our Clubby has a leaky sump plug `coz some deadbeat put a helicoil in, crooked... ![]() So whenever it needs a change now, I wipe the plug threads and put a couple of drops of Loctite 515 or 518 Master Gasket on them. No more leak... and it's still easy to remove. ![]() |
