I went past a servo today that was called: "West Ryde Ethanol Fuel" I remember hearing a while back that the ethanol content of petrol cannot exceed 10%, but some service stations were selling a blend of up to 20% ethanol. Now little Johnny How-hard wants to make ethanol blend fuel standard, to bring the cost down. Does anyone know the facts on all this?!? |

I believe JAM asked if it will happen, not if our cars will run on it. If it does happen, it won't be anytime too soon, so I'm not stressing. |

Isn't the law they're allowed to put up to 10% in without saying anything.. but if they put over 10% ethanol in fuel they must notify people. |

afaik ethanol will eat certain types of rubber and also some plastics. Some float bowls are made of plastic and stuff up after being exposed to ethanol. Also some older type of o-rings are eaten by this stuff. Apparently it also sucks out the oils in rubbers making them hard.... |
