as Ive posted before, im looking at converting an auto to manual.

is there a way of getting out the engine without need to take out the transmision too?

Im new to the mechanics side of things, but have confidence i can do it.
just howwwww? :?

any info, no matter how small...
cheers.

NO. You need to lift the lot out first....

It's quite easy really, either with an engine hoist or a chain block.
A lifting bracket attached to the head helps a lot.

ok did this recent so hopefully i wont forget anything..if anyone spots something i missed please feel free to correct me...
disconnect battery...
exhaust (at flange if you dont intend removing manifolds separately)
wiring ( label it as you go, so if it takes a while being out , you will remember what wire went where)
I left radiator and hoses connected (lifts out as one complete unit)
universal or joints disconected to seperate diff from axles. (passenger side one is trickier, might have to semi remove wheel hub )
top engine steady.
gear linkages
speedo and carb cables....
4x engine mount bolts through subframe.
not necessarily in that order..

Morrie 1100s have three engine mounts...one is at the front and is a real 123456789 to get at the nuts.

ill get onto it this weekend, then let you know how i went.

theres major damage near that front engine mount, so i think the grinder will be coming out to clear the metal away.
