Hey all, I am wondering how much should I expect to pay for a full 2pac spray job on my mini, which will be stripped and rust removed before i take it to be sprayed? The color is not a standard mini color, but its not pearl and its not mettalic Lucas |

From what you are saying I am presuming you are supplying paint etc? . Back yardie $1200. Workshop without paint supply $1500+ , if they are doing it all bar the prep then minimum $2000+. . The problem is finding a workshop that can be bothered doing the job and doing it well. They will charge you for the effort. Could be as high as $4000. They make alot more money pumping out NRMA jobs than time consuming quality work unfortunatly we are all after. . Try and find a good tradesman who may be able to paint it on the side. Cash him up and save a bundle. Unfortunatly easier said than done. One quality job I know of in the MCC cost $6000.00 for a drop off pick up job, everything. Another was $1000 in a garage and looks just as good to me. . |

With a bare BRAND NEW body delivered ready for spraying I was quoted $3000 to paint inside and out plus stonegaurd. This was in February this year. I told him I wouldn't bother and am doing it myself. Besides the fact that assembling it I am going to cause minor paint damage (lucky if I did not) and it would have to go back for touch up. |

For a professional 2 pack spray job which includes rust removal and respray should cost around $5000-$6000. They charge around $60 an hour which takes around 100 hours due to rust removal, panel beating, spray job, and a good clean. An etimated paint job inside and out takes 60 hours, then it takes a couple of weeks for the paint to completly cure. Keep looking around because i got my first mini resprayed for $2000 which was done in tiga mica. That was only 3 years ago. |

so whats the difference between acrylic and 2-pack? im going to be re-spraying a shellsoon and i dont want to ahve to spend my first born on it... |

The difference is that 2 pack is a thicker and much stronger paint which doesn't need to be looked after as much as acrylic does. Acrylic is softer, needs to be buffed to get a real good shine and isn't as shiney as 2 pac is. All new cars are sprayed in 2 pack as old cars were sprayed in acryilc laquer or baked enamel. Acrylic is easy to work with if you make mistakes when applying as when applying 2 pack, you have to be careful as it is much harder to rub back if you get runs. |

If all the painter has to do is paint the mini then it shouldnt be too much... Painting is pretty much the easiest part. Where my mini is at the moment there is a FC holden there (a 59 i think??) anyways he got one of his own guys to prep it ready for paint and that costed him $8000 just for the bog work!! Getting the rust cut out and prepin it is the longest most expensive part... |

I've been quoted 2-3k for acrylic paint (my choice) I'll be doing the prep - as in getting it back to bear metal. Panel shop will do all other repairs and paint. |
