I got the Gumption and scrubbing brush out today and cleaned up one of the GT seats. Not bad for 34 year old seats!!

Only dilema I have got is the stitching came apart on both front seat bases, and even after cleaning them real well, they still don't look **NEW** ..... which is a bummer because the door cards and rear cards WILL be new. I am thinking I should just retrim these seats anyway..... :? Can't have something not new in a fully restored car :P

The seats in my old GT were the same colour as those but with the headrest and the drivers seat was split just like that, could be that I had a big bum :D but both seats had splits in the bases at the back as well, the wire had pulled away from the rubber mat thing and had no support at the rear, after fixing them no more problems with splitting. They look ok for 34 year old seats though

If the wire clips underneath have pulled out of the holes in the base tubes,
bring them round and Dr MIG will fix like he did Pops' ones.

yea, I have already bought new diaphragms for them. When they go, fat asses make them sag real bad and split the stitching ...

These can be easily restitched, and would be almost like new, but they still don't look or feel like freshly retrimmed seats.....which is what I am used to.... :P

Found a rear card hiding underneath a plain clubby one today.Someone had fitted a stokko one OVER the GT one!!!

haha, that does not surprise me Jim. Aiden is 20months and he still has his moments, and i can probably say the Anton will be able to tell us tha even at 3 curtis still causes nights of sleeplessness. Kids are like minis, there a pain in the arse and cover you in crap, but you love them dearly!

Anton, the seats look good, you reckon you could clean my seats up and make em look that good.......

Cheers

Aaron

Yep they look great Anton :)...

Have you thought about keep them the way they are though and getting another set of seats to recover?

restitch them as is and put them back in the car - original seats are better than retrimmed IMHO ;)
