just trying to get a general opinion here.
does anyone think that a mini in this basic condition is worth 6k

good - exterior looks ok but has some scratches and could really do with a paint.
- disc brakes
- nice wheels

bad - interior needs totally redoing
- no motor
-no gearbox

sorry i cant show pics as i am trying to form an opinion without visual emotional appeal spoiling common sense.
cheers
gaz

No way!

$6K should buy a very good driveable Mini K or Deluxe with RWC.

Unless it is a rust free Cooper S with the original matching numbers engine and box sitting beside it, out of the car.

My opinion...

I start with a "Good" basic mini is worth about 4k

you have..
good - exterior looks ok but has some scratches and could really do with a paint.
that would prolly drop it a couople hundred = $3.8k

You have ...
- disc brakes
bonus - up 500 = $4.3k

you have ...
- nice wheels
matter of personal taste - I would prolly change them so you could expect most buyers would as well. they are worth nothing extra to new buyer = $4.3k

you have ...
bad - interior needs totally redoing
not good - bugger lots of work there - ouch just lost 1.5k = $2.8k

you have ...
- no motor
-no gearbox
double ouch! - and minimum 2.5k later to get one procured, fitted, running and registered = $0.3k left

Yep picture would really add some value because the potential buyers could see any potential in what they could or would want to do with the project. But you asked for an emotionless valuation based purely on the information given. $6000? sorry no, no where near it - on paper, common sense says it's only worth $300.

This opinion is based purely on the limited information provided and is subject to variation if further evaluation information comes to hand.
Cheers Dat

whodats theory is pretty sound.. and makkas evaluation is about whay i guessed first up so im going to say $550....the wheels could bring it up if we were allowed to see them...
following whodats theory add price of good second hand mags and tyres ???? still nowhere near 6k
look in gallery at my yellow mini under $2000 with mags 998 running rough, with remote box has rust but at least it wasnt hidden..

3yrs ago i bought my virtually mint condition 66 deluxe with RWC...its in 100000000 bits now...but at the time it only cost me $4000 with 12 months rego...been a real nice car...about to get heaps nicer ;)

car with discs and no engine/interior...$1000 max...depending on shell condition...if the shell is rusted to hell then i wouldnt even give a few hundred...if the shell is mint and ready for a paint job i'd happily hand over $1000...

wheels wouldnt do much for me as i'd almost certainly replace them with something i like...but given i like superlites chances are its them anyway :P still wouldnt add more than a couple o hundred to the price for em...assuming they are in really good condition...

you might get more if you sell the parts seperately...a good set of 8.4" discs will fetch $700+...good shell $500~$1000...wheels in near new condition with new or near new tires $600ish...the list goes on...and it adds up...personally...if it aint got an engine...it aint a car...its either a failed project or something someone's butchered for a project...which puts you in a bad place as a seller coz yer clearly just trying to get rid of it...

One word. POPS. Why would you spend $6000 on half a mini, when you could have bought Pops. Perfect condition, much history, and a definite collectors item. You would be buying someone elses problems. Probably just some scumbag out to rip off someone who doesn't know so much about minis or can't see past the "good" bits to the shoddy work underneath.

I'd consider paying 6 for slidey... he's niiiiice and I have a motor that'd suit him perfectly

this other one is only worth the wheels and disks

Sight unseen - no
With a pic so we know what your on about - [um, no - you're outside my price range]

There is obviously a catch here - next it's going to have history like Ringo's mini or something.
