Goddamn it. I am so sick of my LS right now ![]() I have done everything in my powers to do modifications to this car in the most thought-out, not-a-dollar-spared kinda way, but i just cant win. ![]() My Exhaust... On my 3rd set of extractors in 3 months, and still no joy. Yes, they are of the right design and all, but the workshop that did them (Another one of the best in Adelaide) is no longer interested in helping me. The 3-1 collector leaks like a sieve. But they refuse to listen to me and put a mount from the 'tractors to the bottom of the gearbox/diff casing. "Dont need it" they say. So, now my exhaust has so far cost me $600 at one place, and another $400 at this one. And still no joy. Oh, and the roof is STILL creased from the first exhaust place, as they claim no responsibility for it. Arsehole. He isn't worth the price of the carton of eggs to throw at his workshop. As for this bloody radiator.... Jeesus, i have never had so much trouble with one thing on any car i've ever owned. I have taken the advice of many, and reverted the flow of my cross-flow rad, back to the original left-to-right configuration, with a filler neck and cap on the top hose. Another $100 down the freakin drain, plus a new Davies-Craig fan, another $100, as this has made my situation worse. Can't keep the damn thing below half on the temp gauge, let alone sit in traffic. I started it up the day i put it all back in, let it idle for around 10 mins with the fan on, and it sat on the thermostat. Now that i go to drive it, i can barely keep it off the red. What the F**k? I tried me mate Willys radiator, which was proven to be better than good in his car, even on a 43* day, but it just couldn't keep my car under control. Ran bloody hot. Oh, and now a new problem has arrived. A sticky throttle. I dunno what changed overnight, but now its all stiff, and it wont return to idle. It just wants to keep goin'. Bloody scary with lots of grunt, i tell ya! So, i 'borrowed' a Weber linkage kit, as used on many cars i have seen, but this is still no good. I bolted it on, the exact way it came off Slidey (Yes, SG's car) and this is no good. I can't get full throttle, AND it is a heavy pedal which sticks. Sorry to whinge, but I've had enough of this crap. No wonder people drive Ricers. |

silly question....... but have you checked your timing/air fuel ratio? If you are running lean it'll make your mota run hot. is your cable frayed? |

My air/fuel and timing were done by the Dyno people. Oh, another $450. An extra $100 of labour when the welsch plug fell out when they were dyno'ing it ![]() Yes, the cable is new, only 6 days old now, its only done about 50kms. |

well i spent something like 800 bucks rebuilding my gearbox, and my clutch pedal/hydraulics decided not to work properly so had to fix that too. But the pedal still sits lower than the brake pedal. ![]() plus i was suspect of a tapping noise from the motor being the small end bearings, didnt replace them on advice, but it still tap's like all hell.. tried rockers, dizzy etc.. no joy. motor needs to come out again. ![]() even if i do get it all working properly, it will still be a smallbore ![]() i should be spending all this money on go faster bits. if you don't give up stuwey i wont either. |

Silly question re radiator. Could it be the gauge that is wrong? ![]() |

Go to another exhaust place with a piece of steel with a hole in the end exactly as you want it and tell them to weld it in. 10 bucks - done. ![]() Go to Blackwoods and get two of these. Just like hose clamps but ultra tuff. About 5 dollars each. You will never have them leak again. |

I had leaking extractors, not enough room to fit any clamps on them, so I got some hi-temp silicone and smeared it around theme and reassembled. Then I have fixed up an exhaust bracket with some flex in it to the back of the front subframe (just a normal U shaped bracket/clamp and a couple of hefty jubilee clips). No more extractor leaks for me. It ain't pretty but it's underneath so who cares ![]() |

ok he sez he has it dyno'd ...... b4 the dyno experiance how was the temp ???? the zaust if it is the three into one perry style extractors you will never get it right as the motor rocks it elongates the hole go to a wreakers and get a flex pipe of a jap car it will fix it beleive me been there done it just because the motor has been dyno tuned dont mean they got it right ... also have you had the block flushed latley might be a blockage in the water jaket some where ...... or the sender or the gauge could be reading wrong but i would look at how it was b4 the dyno experiance ..... also whats the dissy like no float in the shaft ???? could just be way to advanced ....... there are many variables you need to look at them all and no mini's are not cheap to own makka |

Overheating: yup, is your engine running hot? I had a faulty sender unit did same thing, said hot but engine wasnt. I pulled the sender unit out and put in a Supercheap water temp guage, perfect. If you go that way though, you need a spacer bolt thing that the temp guage probe threads into and then into the block, otherwise the probe will hit the other side of the water jacket ![]() Sticky throttle: Has the throttle cable jumped out of its cradle/holder, just work the throttle with engine off and suss what its doing ![]() Zaust: There are so many assholes out there Stuwey, bad luck you've run into a couple in a run ![]() |
