Post subject:	Comp bump stops
Gonna get some rotors from Karcraft today so I thought I should get some bump stops too as the car (hydrolastic) bottoms out and apparently rides on the stops as soon as I've got 3 or more people in there (I've had many more). The bottoming out obvioulsly is the worst at the back so should I get some competition bump stops for the rear first and see how it goes (as the front non competition are still Ok) or get both or just front? Are competition ones much better than standard for both front and back? Oh and are they any special tricks for fitting them?

Just get the Back one's Mike. I had them on the front for a year, thats how long they lasted

Karcraft sells them p/no C-AJJ3313. Forget the fronts- it'll ride too high and handle like crap. Unless it's a rally car, haha.

you can get Comp for both front and back I had both on at one stage then the front one shat themself's so i put the old one's back in..and it does handle better with out the comp's on the front and not as harsh

They are larger and more progressive bump stops than the standard ones. By putting comp bumpstops on the rear and letting the hydro down on them you stiffen up the rear suspension. It also means that when you have passengers in the back seats the nose doesn't sit skyward as much. I expect the rear suspension moves around more and is softer than the front because the leverage is much greater at the rear

but aren't the bumpstops only there to stop you crunching your shocks? isn't it bad to be resting on the bump stops?

No shocks on a hydro car (not unless you've put them there) bump stops are there to limit the travel so it doesn't hit and break something. Most of the wieght is still held by the hydro suspension you don't lower it that far the comp bump stops limit the hydro's ability to pitch and roll and just firms it up. As there is not much weight on the back I expect the rear bump stops don't get a huge workout as gafmo said it was his front ones that only lasted a year

Can't put shocks on rear of hydro, as the helper springs are there (they pull back of car down, not up.) BTW, these bumpstops can be put on cars with the pov dry suspension, if you are trying to make them handle as well as a hydro. Back at ya, cushy..
