Cooper MX5 Racing Car 1953
Cooper Car Co Ltd, England
Coopers specialised in racing cars and made very few road machines, though its Mini-Coopers of the 1960's were notable exceptions. Cooper rear engined racing cars achieved many successes, with the Cooper 500 becoming famous through having drivers like Stirling Moss. In 1940, his first year of competition, Moss won 10 out of 14 races in Cooper 500s. This exhibit was owned by speedway champion Ronnie Moore.
1000 cc Vincent motorcycle engine.

It's a Tatra from Czechoslovakia! But i dont know the model number.

The guy who designed them had a young apprentice called none other than Ferdinand Porsche who went on to design the "Type 2" for the Nazis and what became the beetle.

I live 2mins away and its an amazing place, i took craig around there when he was over here as they have a load of nostalgia cars like cooper S, moke, riley elf etc all in prestine condition.

As for the cooper, they were the 1st to put the engine in the rear and win the grand prix season thats the reason why all the formula one grand prix cars run with a rear engine rear wheel drive set up now.

that blue thing is about 20ft long and weighs about 3tonnes.

There was a Tatra in "Classics" magazine a while ago. Air cooled V8 rear engine, very fast. But the cabin is heated by a petrol fueled heater! Case of "Don't smoke' em if ya got 'em" maybe.

They also have a Cadillac from the 30s with 1 inch think glass, complete with bullet impacts.

We were there last year.Fantasic place. You need to allow at least 5 to 6 hours to do this place juctice. It is huge. Most of the cars have been donated to the Musuem, and stay there and not sold(ever). If you go there during the week, you can ask to have a look downstairs and down the back in the workshops-Thats where it gets real interesting :!: :!:
Oh-For the ladies-it's not just cars in there.Great displays and all temp controlled and sooo clean :D :D

Great place. I discovered it by accident driving to Wellington earlier this year. Asked the missus if i could pop in for a quick look. was in there for about 2.5 hours, whilst she sat in the car. Oopps! That gangster caddy was brilliant! I also thought the old model T? with the panels that were all hand made out of copper was quite cool too. I've got the book from there thats full of information on all the cars.
