SU carbie spacers. my 1 1/4 carbie has a half cm spacer between the carbie and manifold, without this, the manifold bolts hit the carbie body and you cant tighten it up (there is a half cm gap between). i have a 1 1/5 carbie, there is about say 4 cm of thread on the manifold bolts, and these are hitting against the carby body, there is about a 3/4 cm gap between the carbie and manifold at this point (I dont have a spacer) Do i need a spacer?? why are the manifold bolts so long?? Could i instead just saw 2cm from the thread and bolt it up with no spacers, or does the spacer provide some other purpose?? |

The spacer adds some volume to the manifold (and clearance behind the throttle plate) and this improves airflow. |

I would guess the 1-1/2" one is 10 or 12mm thick. Hey, any Mini joint would have these S/H, they are alloy... ![]() |

but any mini joint charges me a fortune!! Ok this plate wasnt too bad, the gaskets wernt exactly cheap though. So i have purchased it, does anyone have any engine bay pics of their own 1 1/2 carb on manifolds so i can ahve a look. My air filter is mounting facing the opposite direction to the front of the car (the spout that the 1 1/4 filter mounts on is not on this 1 1/5, is this normal) I would thinkmounting it here would be very bad for air flow +its in the way of my speedo cable! It also appears as if this carb is a mirrored one? anyway, any pics of 1 1/5 in engine bay if you could thanks! |
