I do newcastle to tamworth every month that takes 3hr 15-30 mins and the legs always need a good stretch after. It was pissing down rain last time couldn't see a thing and the mini is so light it just difts across the water on the road. |

Overnight up there i broke my rod change housing mount so it was flopping about, and maybe with the same hard knock (speedbump, 5 people in car) had dislodged the ring gear (yes, i know this sounds impossible, but it is otherwise unexplainable) and so starter motor engaged approximately 1% of the time ![]() Hence i decided to make a beeline for melbourne after breakfast. In around mid-30s heat she started overheating too, so i put the heater on.. so add another 15C or so.. it was at least 40-50 in my car. So i'd do 60mph, then have to drop back to 45/50.. then back up... all the while sweating myself silly. And i couldnt stop either because if i did i might not be able to get it started again ![]() ![]() |

My longest trip(s) in a mini (NAV) was from Canberra to Coffs Harbour in one day X2 ![]() I only stopped twice, both for fuel and food/drink, it took around 9-10hrs. ![]() I have also been to Coffs From Brisbane twice as well, so 5 hrs each way easy peasy. Late next year my mates and i are planning a run down to the great ocean road in our minis. Why cause we want to ![]() |

Spectacular... are they REAL mini roads? Like lots of nice twisty parts, or only occasionally? |

ha ha,,,Brisbane to Melbourne & back quite a few times now,,,not to mention (i don`t know how many) trips to Syd & back to bris,,,umpteen times a couple of times we did bris --> syd & back in a moke,,,one of them without wipers & guess who had to sit out the side of the moke & hand opperate the wipers with string attached,,, in the middle of the night, fogged out like a white out, freezing my tits off ???,,,yeah!!!,,,never again tho I would rather drive long distances in a mini tho (well,,,as long as it had major grunt ,ok ok, i am a bit power spoilt), i am more comfortable in a mini than anything else tho, been in them that long that i think my body has formed the shape of the mini seat ![]() try brisbane to Tasmania & back in an old split window combie ute with the race mini on the back of the tray & all the rally gear & camping gear & all the tools & equipment & a complete spare front & rear suspension assys & also a complete spare power unit & & & ...Hell YeaH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the dam thing was on the bump stops the whole way there & back...never again ![]() ![]() Minis are fine on long trips,,,as long as they have been prepared & maintained well, shouldn`t be a problem driving them around Australia a few times. |

I'm with you on both counts Matt - when I get out of my conformadore after a 3 hour trip I'm tired and sore, the same trip in the mini and it's like I just drove around the block.... |
