Post subject: | TempeTyres 12inch wheel/tyre package |
Hi Just wondering if anyone has the $699 wheels/falken tyres from tempe. Happy with them? They do not look to be a very wide offset and I was wondering if they fit without guards on a standard drum brake mini 1100. I would just go in and try them on the car but need tyres for rego to get there! The price seems right. But then a set of guards cost too. Hope someone can help cheers Dave |

I've seen them on cars with drums & no flares, they seem to fit OK, but in my opinion they are a crap looking set of wheels, if it was me id save up a few more $$$$$ and get a set of 12x5 performance superlights & some proper flares, they look 1000% better. Doogie |

I have got these same wheels rolling on my brothers clubbie and they fit but you need stepped drums on the rear so they don't scrub on the rear trailing arm.but they still fit with no flares needed and IMHO I thinkthat they are alright but there are alot of different wheels and tyres out there atm that would look better............ What type of mini do you have....... and BTW J_A_M has got those wheels on his red clubbie and they look good but the first thing you want to do is ask them if you can get them with 165 tyres instead of 145 they are just crap otherwise........ Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Just to clarify the stepped drum issue: If I need stepped drum rear to stop them scrubbing will I then need stepped drums on front also to get same change in offset front and rear? Also anyone know the price of performance superlights? Surely not just a few hundred more? The tempe package is $699 wheels AND tyres (165 Falken). Thanks once again Dave |

Oh yeah the car is a 68 van. Currently has "speedy" brand sprint wires. Very 70s! They are 10x5.5 I think. Fractionally outside the guards as is. Cheers Dave |

You don't need them on the front for the car to roll. But I think they do look better when they are all the same offset. I have these set of wheels and I personally think they are a good cheap set of wheels.... Soooo much better than the stocko steelies. I got myself some stepped drums and plastic flares . I am pretty povvo so they suit me really well. Try and haggle the price too. I got mine for 650 delivered with the fatter tyres, which are a must I believe. So it is worth the haggling. Heres a pic of what they look like. I think the bling suits the outlandish colour.. I think the wheels look smashing... and isn't that all that matters? |

Ok the superlights are cheaper than I thought ( I did enquire on the northern beaches!) But still beyond my current budget. Pulver I reckon the tempe rims look great on your car. Stepped drums all round is another cost though. Keeping my options open for a couple of weeks I think. But thanks for the contributions. Now have a much clearer picture of the choice. Cheers Dave |

I just bought a set of performance superlights (a month ago) 175 per rim and 125 for 12 X 165 yoko A539s total... 1200 even had to shop around. that did include wheel nuts but not the lock nuts. They rims have the steel pressed inserts for the wheel nuts. I don't think the imported ones (tempe) do. Check to make sure. |

I have an AS NEW (only done about 100ks) set with tyres just about to list them on ebay. Would take $900.00 for them. cmon 68 Matic, you gotta be joking, you cant tell the diff between the two wheels. Compare the two pix ![]() |

Doogie this sounds right but if you haggle them like call the supplier first(ring performance for no.) you can get them right down i think we paid $125 or $130 each so the actual rims worked out cheaper than the farken tyres(yoko's) but you should get them cheaper down there |

the superlights are polished lips and painted centers and the tempe jobs are just cast finished... is this correct? and where were you a month ago? Quote: I have an AS NEW (only done about 100ks) set with tyres just about to list them on ebay. Would take $900.00 for them.
