The 850 has a ramflo attached to the carby and my moke has a stock black filter attached. The 850 hisses like mad on acceleration, and while I haven't put any sound deadening stuff on both sides of the firewall yet, I'm kind of thinking i'm still going to be able to hear it because it's so loud and a lot of wires run through the big giant speedo circle in the firewall.

What are my options for quietening it... will my moke stock air filter just whack on (spacewise it looks really tight), will it be too much of a performance loss to be worth it? Is it worth sticking with the ramflo despite the noise?

Hissing noise is annoying!

i kinda like the hissing i get out of my clubman, but thats just me i guess. As far as i know, having a ram-flo or any other sports filter is only really an advantage if you have extractors, exhuast etc....

Maybe you have an air leak somewhere?

I just converted from Cooper S / GT air box, to RAMFLO's (on twin HS2's).....and the increase in noise is marginal.

Correction... SU noise is annoying

If you want quiet - Stocko air filter.
If you want drain pipe sounds - go for the Ramflo.
