Who drives a Mini as a daily driver? As of next Monday I will be......

Today is a sad day for me........my VERY trusty Mitsu daily hack is being decommissioned :( Rego is due on Sunday and I can't afford to run 3 cars in the one household

When I was younger I had a very bad habbit of changing cars almost as regularly as my undies! The longest I had owned a car for, before the Mitsu, was just over a year. I bought my trusty wagon in August 2000 from a dodgy Parramatta Rd dealer. Everyone was ---> <--- that I bought it......but it is quite funny how things turn out. This car has been THE most relieable car I have ever experienced. Over 5 years of service, and only broke down once when the fuel pump shat itself.

I have been everywhere in this car.......gone through major events in my personal life.....moved house a couple of times, towed shitloads of things, filled the wagon to the hilt with all sorts of things......even carried 50m2 of floor tiles in the back and had the rear bumper nearly dragging on the ground!!!

This car has become part of me...and now it is time to let go........

BUT......the good side to this is that JAM now becomes my daily hack! :D

....and we are back to a 2 car family! (not including Reg the GT....who will get a loving restoration over the next ??? years)

my daily hack is a mini, as you know. but it looks like i may not have him for much longer, we'll see. shame your mitsu is going but it's a good thing. JAM needs to be driven. you will get used to rolling it down the street every morning so as not to wake up the family

Did u sell the mitsu? or is it going on ebay?

Cheers

I drive mine everyday JAM,

it goes well, nice smooth driving, apart from the fuel running out every now an then, but is just lack of my attention of the fuel gauge.

I am going to put it on the side of the road with a sign.....$2000 8) Very fair price for a 95 Lancer wagon.

Don't laugh....but I think I might buy a small fan to stick on the dash in JAM....on a hot day it's very uncomfortable in JAM.

The General is a Daily Driver.

Fark it gives me the shits sometimes.
My dilemma is this.
I've thrown too much money at it to sell it, or to justify it just sitting in the garage.
I can't afford to register 3 cars.
It's not original or in good enough nick for club plates, and I'd want to drive it more than that anyway.

One more breakdown and I think I'll set fire to it - that's if I have a home to go back to when I tell the missus it's broken again

What to do What to do.

Surely the wagon is worth more than that, if not, be sure to remove any componentry
that would be good in the mini. :D

I drive mine every day.

I sh*ts me to tears sometimes. Only because work is a minimum an hours drive away.

Haven't had too many problems, alternator, and a drive shaft came out of the CV joint... Poor workman ship on my part.... :?

I use my van as a daily driver from time to time, and especially when petrol prices are high. It's refreshingly agile and relatively frugal after the Land Rover. Gets there quicker and is great fun to drive.

Unfortunately it's off the road at the moment for further ongoing development (awaiting a respray and installation of the new 1360 project engine).

After it's back together again I intend using it almost daily depending on weather coditions and other priorities.

If you look after them they are great daily drivers :).

My moke was my daily for for five years come december, but it's been replaced a few weeks ago with an 850 morris.

I love driving it too much for it to not ever be my daily :).

(yes I know the shitty feeling when everything goes wrong or you can't work out wtf is wrong and you NEED the car because it's your daily all to well :).)
