Rumour has it that shell is schmick. Cut the front off it at your own risk, as I can bet there'll be a line up to take to your nuts with a grinder  (oh just winced at the thought of that!!!)

i've heard the same too...but if i am going an engine conversion i'll want the flipfront...in my opinion its better as it gives more room under the "hood"...

We all have to start somewhere.

I had about 10 years away from working on cars while i learnt to be a farmer and when I started on minis again it was amazing how many tools and bits had just disappeared. Just been eaten by mice i think.

Talking about mice eating things. A mate has just started harvesting a couple of acres of wheat. He went to start his Acco truck (with a bin on it for the wheat grain) and found it wouldn't start, mice had eaten the wiring and then when he had the wiring fixed, the air brakes wouldn't release and the mice had also eaten the air brake hoses and it wouldn't pump up enough pressure to release the brakes.

i had mice as pets when i was a kid...something you learn from caring for mice is: if you put anything thats plastic in their cage that has an edge on it it will be chewed and knawed into nothingness within days...i believe they do it to keep the length of their teeth under control...as they continue to grow forever...and if they dont chew they end up with such long teeth that they can no longer eat...hence the expression "he's getting a bit long in the tooth"
