Post subject: | replacing front loom |
okay, my current wiring loom in my clubby is absolutely cactus, I have wires coming out everywhere and at least 8 wires that lead nowhere. I have had a lot of ignition problems so I am putting in a good 2nd hand loom. I have a 76 ss and the loom is out of a 74 clubby, are there any major differences I should be aware of? Also to get it on the road quick smart, I am going to swap over my 3 gauge binnacle with the 2 gauge from the 74 clubby-can I expect any difficulties? Hopefully someone can help-auto electrical is not my forte'! Cheers peoples Nathan |

Okay I will the answer a go but i hope an expert will jump in and correct any inaccuracies. I am not sure of what the model to model differences were but a standard loom from any clubbie will fit and operate. Its the little sublties that cause concern. These include a wire from the handbrake to the red light thingo on the upper dash pad and the brake fail warning light next to it. There are one or two other little changes also but I can't think of them Changing dashs from two to three is easy peasy - but make sure you change the dash mounting bracket to suit the three pods. For the tacho - you will find a white wire near where the tach is going to be. It has a join using a bullet connector. Split the wire and slide the female end of the bullet over the male stud on the tacho. Also connect the red wire from the voltage stabiliser on the appropriate tag on the back of the tacho. Good luck |
