I wanted to know if the rear trailing arm is hard to replace, and if anyone else has ever bent one. do vans have the same arms as sedans.

We thought we had bent one on my son's Clubby, so stole one off our old van. No it wasn't bent. Yes van ones the same as sedan (dry) ones.

Easy to replace the trailing arm.
Undo both ends of trailing arm shaft, remove outer bracket, undo shock lower mount, slide arm out.

Have a good look at the shaft hole in the subframe, if worn oval fix before refitting.

When refitting the cone and knuckle joint ass'y, try not to let the rubber boot slip off the cup.

Yes Mick, the big wheel Moke ones are longer, 4" I think.

I bent an arm once - caused by doing too many hand brake turns. They're not difficult to change. Apparently the alloy types bend even easier...

I let someone drive my Cooper S once in a back street and he bent the right hand trailing arm and also damaged my Contessa mag ..

I told him to slow down as he approached the corner but he did not listen . He just said its ok the Mini will handle it..

But it wasnt ok as he hit the curb which I knew he would as he was doing over 50 mph.. It made a horrible noise and he kept driving as if nothing happened..

Anyway when we got back to his place and I was mighty upset as the mag wheel was damaged and the number plate assembly light was missing..

He gave me ten dollars for the number plate light and I said what about the mag? He said oh I will sort that out for you later.

Anyway it was not until the next day that I saw the real damage that he did. As the wheel was sitting way inside the flared guard.

I then went to his work and showed him his handy work.. He offered to fix it for me but he never did..
